Handmade Greeting Card with Scalloped Punches

Hey guys! This Friday is National Send a Friend a Card Day, so ... I thought I'd share a simple thank you card that I recently made for Marvy Uchida. They asked me to create 3 projects for their catalogue using some of their punches and I was thrilled. I use them all the time and love them. I'll share the other two projects soon!

It may sound a little old fashion in this digital age but as a papercrafter, I still enjoy the tradition of sending someone a physical card. I have so much fun making them and I hope they feel loved, remembered, and appreciated.

For this card, I started with black paper as the base and cut it to 7.5" x 8.75". I folded it in half making the card 3.75" x 8.75". I added a layer of white card stock on top, then chose paper and embellishments from the Doodlebug Design, Hello Again Collection. So pretty.

I punched 3 holes (or windows) in the Patchwork Plaid print using a 2" circle punch by Marvy Uchida (links below). Then, I layered that on the card allowing the white paper from underneath to show through the holes.

Next up ... the scalloped rings. To make these, I cut 2" circles out of black card stock. Then, I centered a 2.5" scallop circle punch on top of the 2" hole and punched out a thin scalloped ring. I glued that on top of the plaid paper to create a little frame around the circles.

To decorate, I added lots of pretty flower die cuts from the Bits & Pieces and tucked some of their edges under the black scalloped rings. I chose a few tiny hearts from the mini icon stickers and the "Thank You" die cut from the Chit Chat. To finish the card, I added some gold enamel dots for a bit of shine.

Handmade Thank You Card with clear acrylic display stand

Check this out! You can also use my clear Acrylic Display Stand to show off your special greeting cards and other handmade works of art. It's not just for displaying mini albums, although it is pretty perfect for that. 😉

I hope this card and its use of punches gives you a little inspiration for your next project. Thanks for stopping by the blog and happy crafting!
