Hey guys and happy Wednesday! If you follow me, then you know I often use different national and world days for inspiration. So when I realized Thursday is World Bee Day, I knew that would be the theme for my next project. World Bee Day is all about spreading awareness of the
significance of bees and other pollinators for our survival. To read more about this important day, please click here.
I wanted to make a cute card for a friend, so I searched Lori Whitlock's site for a cutting file with a bee. I found an adorable one called Flexi Card Bee (link below).
I chose the pretty flower & beehive prints from the Simple Stories Full Bloom collection and black and white card stock. Lori's file has the 1 set of wings but since I wanted to add more dimension, I added a 2nd set so they popped off the card.
I did this by cutting an extra black bee outline from the cutting file and found some white vellum to use on the backside of the wings.
With my scissors, I snipped around the wings so that all the extra parts were removed and I was left with a 2nd pair of wings. (Sorry little bee!)
I adhered the white vellum to the backside of the wings using my Zip Dry Paper Glue.
Then I added a small piece of black foam
tape to the center of the backside of the wings and attached them to the card. (FYI - this black tape is great for dark colored papers.) Aaaaand done!
Wouldn't this pretty card be wonderful for a birthday, graduation, anniversary, or Mother's Day? Or you could use it to send words of encouragement, well wishes or a "thinking of you" message. Don't forget to add a funny "bee" pun! Here are some ideas ...
- Happy Bee-day
- We Bee-long Together
- Always Bee Yourself
- We're Meant to Bee
- Have a Bee-utiful Day
- Bee-lieve in Yourself
- Bee Happy
- Everything will Bee OK
