Hey guys! So last week I was looking for something in my crazy but ah-mazing stash of scrapbook supplies and ran across a bunch of washi tape. How long have those been there? Don't know, but ... Yay! It's been a really long time since I made a project with washi tape, so ... let the fun begin!!
First, if you're new to washi tape, let me give you the low-down ... it's like masking tape but wayyyy better. It comes in so many beautiful designs and colors. It's flexible, lightweight, and archival so it can safely be used to decorate and embellish lots of fun crafts. It also peels off without damage and it doesn't leave a layer of sticky yuck behind. Perfect.
With tape in hand, I decided to make some greeting cards using simple white card stock, washi tape, and a few adorable embellishments. I started with that super cute bee washi tape to make a belated birthday card. I mixed in some dots and stripes, then added some adorable icon stickers from Doodlebug's Simple Spring Collection. The Bee-lated Birthday words are a Doodlebug Doodle Stamp called Oh Boy!. I think it turned out bee-utiful!
This next card is perfect for Valentine's Day ... or any time you want to send a little love. It's appropriate for almost anyone including your spouse, your kids, a close friend, mom or dad, or even your grandparents!
I used washi tape horizontally but cut it into a diagonal pattern. The hearts are made with red card stock using a heart punch. The "you are so loved" words are from the Doodlebug Design, All Occasion Love You Doodle Stamp and the sweet heart shaped mini Doodle-pops called Be Mine is from the Lovebugs Collection.
The last card I made would be perfect to welcome or congratulate someone on their new home, a change of address, to announce a housewarming party, or just to say hello and let someone know you're thinking of them!
I went bold and added some gold scalloped washi tape and navy stickers from Doodlebug Design, Fancy Frills (Patriotic Picnic). The Doodle-pops is from the Hello Collection called Cute Cottage. Look how detailed the wreath and flower boxes are on that Doodle-pops! It really IS a cute cottage!
I used envelopes from a mix of Doodlebug's Cards and Envelope collections. I hope these give you some fun inspiration. You can use ANY washi tape, embellishments, and paper to create a card that suits your needs whether it's a birthday, Valentine's Day, or Get Well Soon card.
