Spring Clipboard Project with Doodlebug

Hello everyone! Today, I'm hoping on the blog to quickly share my latest Doodlebug Design Team Project. I created a 12x12 spring page using the adorable Odds & Ends die cuts from the Spring Things collection.

This is one of my all-time favorite die cut collections because of the flowers and cute little critters. I wanted something I could hang on my wall for a fun pop of color in my craft room. I didn't have a 12x12 frame, so the Doodlebug clipart board worked perfectly!

My inspiration started with this piece of 6x6 paper from the Spring Things 6x6 paper pad. I used my circle cutter to cut out the circle and then adhered it to the center of my white card stock.

Then I used a plate to draw another circle for my odds and ends. I laid all of the pieces around the circle to determine placement before I adhered them. I love how the acetate pieces look popped up and overlapping other solid pieces.

And here is my granddaughter again ... get ready, you're going to be seeing a lot more of her in future. She is almost 10 months old and has completely stolen my heart!

I finished the piece by adding just a few sprinkles around the page, and backing the white card stock with a piece of dolphin textured card stock.

I hope my project has inspired you to have lots of fun with Doodlebug's Odds and Ends! Happy crafting!

July 4th Cards with Doodlebug Cut Files

Hey friends! It's time for my latest Doodlebug Design Team Project and today, I'm sharing two 4th of July cards I made with the new Yankee Doodle cutting files! You can use these with any of the cutting machines like Silhouette, Cricut, etc., and they're so fun. They're titled 4th Heart, USA and Love the USA (links below).

I made the heart into a folded card by welding the base heart shape to a vertically flipped duplicate. Here's a tip: once you cut the stripes out of red paper, save the negative image and lay it over your white base card. It will help you position where the red stripes should be placed. I had a 5x5 square envelope, so I made my heart 4 3/4" wide. Always be sure your card will fit into a standard size envelope before you start cutting.

I love that the little heart on the "USA" cutting file can be cut separately and placed anywhere on the shape ... since I live in Georgia, I placed it there :)

The "Love the USA" blocks are really fun.  You could add the entire phrase, or just the "I (heart) U" to so many projects.  I used foam adhesive to give the blocks a little dimension, and I'll use the USA shape on other projects in the future ... travel, home ... etc.

Below are links to the cutting files and products used. The flower paper in the photo is called Patriotic Posies and it's from the Doodlebug Design, Patriotic Parade Collection. Happy scrappin'!

Spring Layout - Doodlebug PageMaps Challenge

Hi everyone! Doodlebug Designs has teamed up with Becky Fleck and the PageMaps team this month to play with some of their new July sketches.  Becky sent me a great 8.5x11 layout with spots for three small photos ... perfect for pictures of my precious granddaughter!

Here's my layout I created from the sketch ...

And here's the PageMaps July 2017 sketch:

It's so cute ... right!?!

So, for this layout I used Doodlebug's Spring Things Collection. When my granddaughter was born, I starting calling her "Buggy" or "Rylee Bug". This sweet collection has lots of cute little bugs so I thought it was just perfect for her pictures.

I used a Doodlebug Petite Prints, Gingham and Linen in Cherry (but you could substitute Ladybug) for the base. Then I layered lots of pretty papers from Spring Things.

I used bubblegum doodle twine and lots of little Odds & Ends like the Hello, the ladybug, the caterpillar, the flower and the heart. Love them!

If you haven't tried a sketch from PageMaps you should!  Even though you can easily change the design, the maps are fun to use as a starting point or to copy exactly for quick inspiration.

Have fun with them and thanks for stopping by today!
