Heart Shaped Box with Mini Album Pages Tutorial

Hi sweet friends! It's time for my next Lori Whitlock Design Team Project and today, I'm sharing a fun Valentine's Day project and a tutorial. I made a heart shaped box with scrapbook pages tucked inside that are perfect for photos of your loved ones.💕

To make it, I used Lori’s beautiful cutting file called Big Heart Shaped Box Roses (link below). It turned out so pretty! I love the lid's scalloped edge and rose flower cut-outs. For the base, I used cardstock from Doodlebug Design in bubblegum pink and lily white. Then, I decorated with their Lots of Love Collection (links below).

Here's what the file looks like ...

The box measures 6" x 6.75" x 2.5" and could be used for small gifts like jewelry, heart shaped photos, a toy, love notes, cookies, candy, a gift card, money, or directions for a Valentine's Day scavenger hunt. How fun!

I used the same file to create the heart shaped pages. I didn't bind them because, with a ring, they didn't fit properly in the box. But that's ok ... they're perfectly secure inside and now they're even more interactive!

I covered the white pages in 12x12 and 6x6 prints from the Lots of Love Collection and created photo mats with a 3" scalloped punch and a 2.5" circle punch. Then, I decorated with lots of cute die cuts. Love!

Now, time for the tutorial ...

1.  First I cut out all of the pieces.

2.  The pink ones are for the lid.

3. And the white pieces are for the base of the box.

4.  Next, I folded all the long strips (2 pink and 2 white) along the score lines. The little notches will be glued around the flat heart shapes to create the sides of the lid and box.

5.  Each strip fits around one side. I prefer liquid glue for this so that each of the notches can slide into place around the curves of the heart.

6.  Once both strips are adhered, the lid will look like this.

7.  I repeated the same steps for the box, folding on the score lines and then adhering each strip around the base heart shape. The cutting file includes 2 heart shapes for the box, and two for the lid. Once the sides are adhered to each piece, the extra hearts are glued over the notches for a seamless look.

8. For my shaped pages, I made a smaller heart by creating an internal offset of the original and cut out 4 pieces. This gave me 8 scrapbook pages (4 double sided), but there's plenty of room in the box for more.

9.  I created another internal offset to get an even smaller shape for the pattern paper.

10. I layered the card stock pieces, making these pages nice and sturdy.

11. And finally, I adhered the intricate rose design on top of the white scallop heart and added both pieces to the lid of the box. It's so pretty!

I hope today's project and Lori's amazing cutting file inspire you. This box and mini album make a beautiful gift idea for Valentine's Day, a birthday, Mother's Day, graduation, or any day!

Let's Celebrate Scrapbook Mini Album with Bella Blvd

Hello friends! Today, I'm sharing my latest Bella Blvd Design Team Project and this week, designers were asked to create something fun with the wonderfully festive Let's Celebrate Collection. I created a 4x6 inch mini album that's perfect for photos of New Year's Eve, a wedding, birthday celebration, graduation, or an anniversary party!

Let's Celebrate Scrapbook Mini Album with a cake, flowers, stars, fireworks, and gold foil accents

The covers are made with Bella's Clear Cuts acetate called Sparkle that's filled with metallic gold fireworks / starbursts. It feels so celebratory!

On the front, I created the round shape using two 12x12 pattern papers, a 3.5" scallop circle punch, and a 3" circle punch. I added the gold foil star from the Ephemera Icons and the "Hooray" from the Ephemera Words (links below). But the main attraction is the ohhhh so pretty "Party Cake" Bella-pops sticker in the center. I love everything about this embellishment, from the adorable little flowers to the shine of its epoxy dots. 💛

Let's Celebrate Scrapbook Album Page with champagne bottles, glasses, hearts, fireworks, and gold foil accents

Inside, there are 36 pages (18 double-sided) that include 2 flippies, lots of cute die cuts and stickers, and space for 40 photos of milestone worthy moments. Above, I used the Bling Thing hearts pattern in the background and decorated with the champagne die cut from the Ephemera Icons. So festive!

Let's Celebrate Scrapbook Album Page with a cupcake, sparklers, and epoxy stars

Speaking of festive, how fun is this cupcake filled with sparklers?! It's another die cut from the Ephemera Icons that I added 3 shiny diamond shaped Party Epoxy Stickers to.

This little keepsake is perfect for documenting your "good times". The Polaroid frame on the left is from the Ephemera Words and makes a great spot for a picture. On the right, I used the punches again to create a photo mat, then embellished with more fabulous die cuts and gold sparkling epoxy stars. 🌟

I love a scrapbook that's not too big, not too small ... but just right. That's what this album is. It can hold pictures from one very special evening or an entire weekend of fun celebrations. Whether you’re documenting a party, a milestone, or a happy memory ... this mini is great.

Above, I created a flippie using a 3x4 card from the 12x12 Daily Details. I love the champagne bottles and the party props. I can just imagine fabulous photos tucked inside of champagne toasts and guests wearing silly hats, crowns, glasses, and mustaches!

Let's Celebrate Scrapbook Album Page with a cake, confetti, epoxy stars, and hearts

Here, I added the confetti print appropriately called Party Time in the background, then used the "celebrate" card to create another flippie for 2 more photos. On the right, a photo mat and more festive embellishments.

Football Shaped Scrapbook Album with Lori Whitlock

Hello crafty friends! Today is Lori Whitlock's January Blog Hop and my blog is the first stop on the hop. But be sure to visit Lori's site also because she has a sale and more great products for you!

For my project, I was inspired by a recent football game. My family is from South Florida so we're big fans of the University of Miami Hurricanes. I've had some collegiate licensed paper laying around for years and since our Canes just made it into the National Championship Game (first time since 2003!), I decided to create a football shaped mini album using one of Lori's awesome cutting files!

Football Shaped Scrapbook Mini Album for photos of a team, event, game, or party

I used her super cute Hexagon Pop Up Football Card File (links below). Here's what it looks like ...

Isn't it great?! This card could be given for Father's Day, a birthday, congratulations, graduation, thank you, or thinking of you. Simply adjust the sentiment as needed. With the Super Bowl just around the corner, I'll be making it very soon!

For today's album, I only used the football shape and sized it to 8x6 inches. I cut the front and back covers out of acrylic, but card stock could be used instead.

Football Shaped Scrapbook Mini Album with a Miami Hurricanes sticker

I decorated the album with Hurricane papers and stickers from a company called Sports Solutions. You could also use any generic football collection as a substitute (see product suggestions and links below).

Football Shaped Scrapbook Mini Album with stars, University of Miami logos, and the ibis

Inside, I added 8 white scrapbook pages (4 double-sided) made of card stock and covered each one in fun patterns, photo mats, and embellishments. Here are a few more of the pages ...

This scrapbook would be perfect for photos of tailgating, a professional or collegiate football game, your son or grandson playing football, a Super Bowl party, a football themed birthday party, or a sports convention.

I hope this project gives you a little inspiration for different ways to use Lori's fabulous cutting files. Also, don't forget my clear Acrylic Display Stand (seen above) to show off your mini albums and amazing cards!

There are more wonderful projects to see today, so be sure to hop to each blog for more great ideas.
