Happy National Hot Chocolate Day!! Yep, there is a day that celebrates this warm yummy beverage. Did you know that hot chocolate dates back to 1700 BC? Me neither! I guess since it's been around so long, it deserves it's own day. Hot cocoa reminds me of comfort, winter, and fun snow filled days. Today, I'm sharing an acrylic mini album that's shaped like this little mug of sweetness.
Look how cute she is! To make this, I chose the Doodlebug Design, Pumpkin Spice Cider cutting file and a pretty pink acrylic for the covers. However, you could use card stock instead.
Then, I decorated it with Doodlebug's adorable Made With Love Collection. I added a strip of flowers (from the 12x12 Flour & Sugar print) along the bottom, the green border (from the This & That sticker sheet), and those adorable pink cheeks (enamel dots in cupcake). Product links below.
For the whip cream on top, I used a frosted clear acrylic and a Fig card stock underneath. Then covered the swirl with brightly colored enamel sprinkles. The hot chocolate is Doodlebug's petite prints dot & stripe.
Inside, I covered each of the white card stock pages in a pretty print from the 6x6 paper pad. I made 2 different sized scalloped circle mats. The smaller ones (like in the photo above) were made with a 2.5" scallop punch and a 2" circle punch. I used a 3" and 2.5" for the larger ones.
On each page, I added some adorable pieces from the Odds & Ends, Chit Chat, and some icon & mini icon stickers. Those tiny marshmallows are killin' me, they're so cute!!
This was the perfect collection for this project. It's all about baking and sweet treats so there were lots of sayings and images of chocolate and marshmallows.
There are also hearts and XOXO's. Valentine's Day is just around the corner so you could make this as a sweet gift for someone. The album is 6" wide x 7 3/4" tall and it has 10 pages. Great for favorite photos, everyday memories, or ... a special date!
This would also be perfect for photos of an afternoon making hot chocolate, being cozy around a fire pit, or roasting marshmallows. It would be super cute for spring or, even an Easter gift filled with photos of the littles.
Most everything I used in this project was from the Made with Love Collection with the exception of few die cut pieces. I found the 2 little mugs on the page above in the Lots of Love Odds & Ends.
And these pretty flowers came from the Lots of Love Bits & Pieces (links below).
You just never know where you'll find inspiration. For me, this week ... it was National Hot Chocolate Day. Next week, it will be something completely different. Thank goodness we have all these wonderful paper collections to bring our visions to life.
